By Our Love…
The Bible tells us that faith without works is dead. James 2:17.
What does that mean?
Well, faith is how we are justified before God. Faith alone.
We are right with God no matter what, even without the good deeds. Faith is a spiritual belief, and people cannot see faith, however, they can see what we do. God’s love for us, and our love for God, produces the desire to do good works. When we do things for the benefit of others, expecting nothing in return, that’s something people can see, so it’s like evidence of our faith.
Show, don’t tell.
I’m a writer, but all the blogs and books won’t mean anything, if I don’t demonstrate what I write about in my real life. Most will only understand what we are doing when they see it. Love is active. It’s what we do for others, not just what we say.
We feed the hungry, care for the elderly, donate our time and resources to provide for people in need. Not because we want others to see us as a good person, but because faith produces that desire to love others by helping in tangible ways.
That’s how people will know we are Christians… by our love.
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:1-3 NIV
