Thankful for the power of prayer…
Believers in Christ have the unique advantage of using prayer to ask God for a change in their circumstances. They can also pray for a change in the lives of others.
Terrible things happen every day in this fallen world. Social status or wealth doesn’t change that fact and every person will suffer in their life. However, Christians who understand how much Jesus loves them also know they can come boldly before God in prayer. It’s understood with a grateful heart, they can ask anything in His name. If we don’t appreciate what we already have, then why should God give us anything more? Even those who have only a little can be thankful for at least having that much. They know God has much better in store for them if they don’t give up. Keep praying according to God’s will and then have peace about the situation, because God is working it out. Know God has heard your heart and will answer in His timing.
What is praying according to His will? God works all things together for good, for those who love Him and are being called into His plan. If you have a reason to hate what someone has done to you or others, you can’t ask God for harm to come to that person. You can ask, but He won’t do it because it’s not His plan for anyone to add more pain to the world. His will, the actual message or commandments Jesus told us, is to love God and love others. All others. Even your enemy. It seems impossible that God would want us to love those who do even unspeakable things to us. God’s love in unconditional, so although it might be the hardest thing you’ve ever done, you can do this with the help of your Savior. This doesn’t mean you’ll easily forgive and everything will be great. It means you can pray that God will intervene and touch that person’s life in such a profound way, they could never again be the same person as they were before you prayed. Prayer can be so powerful when it comes from the heart of a believer that it can change lives. It’s always a choice you make on your own, but if you can forgive and let go of the anger, God will take care of the situation. If you can learn to do this, you can have peace from God that others may never find. God tells us to pray with a thankful heart in every circumstance. So whether you’re praying for relief from a tragedy or heavy burden or disease, for money to pay your bills, a promotion at work, or even a good bargain at the store, be thankful. Know Jesus loves you, God hears your prayers, and the Holy Spirit will lead you to peace.
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything every circumstance and situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your specific requests known to God. And the peace of God, that peace which reassures the heart, that peace which transcends all understanding, that peace which stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus is yours.
