Where is God?...
The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good. Proverbs 15:3
The question of God’s existence often comes up when we see and hear of the atrocities happening in the world, both far and near.
The news is full of stories of destructive behavior which leads to tragedy. We’re seeing more and more people who have no regard for human life, respect for other living creatures, or desire to help anyone but themselves.
If God is real and He is good, then why isn’t He doing something about the violations of His commandments? Why won’t He fix all the brokenness and end the suffering?
The answer is free will. God gave us the free will to choose how we live our lives. Every single thing we do has a consequence and adds to the evil or the good of each day.
God told us in Matthew 18:18, Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.
In Heaven, there is no hatred, envy, bitterness, betrayal, no evil thoughts or deeds or stress of any kind, which only brings sickness and suffering.
Heaven is the place of God’s glorious love, and every good thing.
So, it’s not that God allows the tragic events of the world to happen, it’s that some people are permitting the destructive behavior of others to rule, and we’re witnessing the consequences of their inaction to change that pattern.
So how do we stop adding to the chaos and instead be able to affect positive change?
God doesn’t leave us to fend for ourselves. He always provides help and a way to do the good and right thing.
If we freely choose to accept His Son Jesus, who desires to save us, then we have His Holy Spirit to guide and help us in every situation.
When we keep our focus on the Lord, the consequence is a better way to live our lives in this world.
It won’t happen instantly, but if we don’t give up faith and hold on to God’s promises, then we will see the manifestation of His goodness in every aspect of our lives.
When you belong to Jesus, you have forgiveness and have God’s love, mercy, and grace. You will also have strength, protection, guidance and peace of mind through the Holy Spirit, who will bring you to a place of prosperity.
The Bible tells us that there will be tribulation in the world, but there is an abundance of hope and change for those who choose the love of God through the person of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
